Sharemarket game FAQs

For instructions on how to register for the Game and login, please follow the steps above or see our Registration help guide.

There is a limit of one (1) Game entry per person in the Game. Any person who registers or attempts to register more than one (1) entry in the Game will be in breach of the Game Rules and may be ineligible for a prize. 

The Game is open to individuals aged 18 years or older and to qualify for prizes, participants need to be aged 18 years or older on the first day of the Game.

International registrations are accepted to participate in the Game but prizes will be awarded only to those who live in Australia with an Australian bank account. 

Choose your user name carefully as you cannot change it. Your user name is what will show up in the Rankings and in Player search. Your name can only be changed by request to Game admin; you can do this via the Sharemarket Game contact page.

You can only trade once the Game has started. Check the website for the Game dates.

The Game features a selection of companies, however certain companies are excluded when their share price is less than $1.5 on the registration date or when they have potential corporate actions during the Game period that cannot be replicated in the Game environment.

When you go to login via the ASX portal, you will see a 'forgot password' link, this is where you can reset your password. 

Registrants can participate in: 

• a small league with 2 to 10 members, 
• or a large league with 11 up to 200 members.

Any person who is engaged in a professional capacity in trading, advising on or managing financial products traded on a financial market may participate in the Game but will not be eligible for prizes.

Once you have added your students to the Game, you will be able to provide them with login details.

They can login to the Game by clicking on the STUDENT LOGIN button on the Sharemarket Game page of the ASX website and then entering their login details. 

When registering for the Game, teachers are able to trade alongside students using their teacher credentials. Teachers are not eligible for prizes in the schools Game. 

Home schooled students are eligible to register for the Game and are eligible for prizes if they meet the requirements and eligibility criteria of the Game rules.

Follow the steps to register as a teacher and register your homeschool. For example, if your last name is Smith, you may want to register Smith Home School. 

Your homeschool application will be processed within 1 – 2 working days and you will be notified of approval via email. 

Once your homeschool has been approved, you will be able to access the Game platform and set up your student syndicates.

Registration for the Schools Sharemarket Game ends on 28 September 2023 and no late entries will be admitted. 

No, only one teacher can register to manager a class or cohort. 

No, classes cannot be transferred between teachers.

We will investigate the registration and suspend the account if the registration is found to be invalid.

The Game 1 dates for 2024 will be announced in November 2023 and will be on the ASX website on the Sharemarket Game page. Registrations should open in early February and the Game should start in mid-March, then run for 10 weeks till late May.
